One of the most painful things that you can ever run into is known as sciatica, or the inflammation of the sciatic nerve.
This condition sends shooting pain from your back all the way into your leg, and it can be a very scary thing.
Sciatic nerve conditions can be almost debilitating, with the affected individuals having trouble with the most basic tasks in many cases. With that in mind, you have to be willing to get a little bit creative with your sciatic treatment. There are ways to relieve the pain temporarily and ways to get rid of the pain long term.
Surgery works….but not for everyone.
Though surgery is a good option for many back conditions, it is not a sciatica treatment that really works.
In fact, it only helps about 1% of people, so it really isn’t viable.
Ice therapy is however a viable treatment.
By applying ice packs, individuals can help bring the inflammation down, and that’s certainly a positive.
Some people like to use heat packs and heating pads to get rid of the pain, but this can exacerbate the problem.
When the nerve is inflamed, heat can actually cause more swelling and more pain.
Depending upon how creative and outside of the box you are willing to get with your sciatic nerve treatment, you might be willing to try acupuncture.
This back treatment has been en vogue for quite a while now, and it is a primary helper for people with sciatic nerve issues.
If you go through this treatment, you can have relief from the serious pain in a matter of weeks.
What it basically does is relieve the pressure that is causing the nerve to act up.
By getting to the root of the problem, you are eliminating the chances of it recurring in the future.
Steps you can take right now.
Exercise and stretching on your own is absolutely essential if you want to avoid flare ups in the future.
Understand that in the days immediately following your sciatic nerve problem, you need to rest your back.
Staying off of your feet can give the nerve time to recover.
But once you have gotten over this issue, stretching every single day and doing directly beneficial exercise can help your back for the future.
“The first few pages of this book are devoted to emergency relief of lower back spasm. If you’ve ever had to get out of bed by rolling out onto the floor, getting onto your knees, then slowly & painfully rising to your feet by supporting yourself by leaning on the nightstand…you know what I’m talking about. Her emergency exercises work. The long-term stretching & toning program is a lot like some yoga exercises…but with some very important–and seemingly subtle–differences that will protect your back from some of the dangerous stresses that certain yoga positions put you into.”

“Book arrived in great condition in a bubble mailer (thank you!!) Very nice copy! So glad I ordered from you all! This is a good book to have as a compliment to her video workout (orig. blue one). During reading, I found out that she was quite a character! I liked her whole approach before, but now, knowing more of her life, I respect her even more. I already knew that she was great at teaching how to respect your body during exercise, in a time when many fitness leaders weren’t really taking that concept seriously. I bought this book and the ‘Callanetics 10 years younger in 10 hrs.’ book–there is surprisingly little overlap, and people who have worked out with her over the years might find both books interesting! If you just want to try the exercises, though, the video might be better help for you.”
“The exercises in these book based on the authors concept of pelvic wave are extremely effective. The exercises are subtle but when performed correctly are amazingly effective in the relief of back pain”

“Callanetics is terrific. This book and Callan Pinckney’s videos are highly recommended.”
